昨年発表されていた、ルクセンブルク大公アンリ殿下（Henri ： His Royal Highness The Grand Duke of Luxembourg）の退位がおこなわれ、長男のルクセンブルク大公世子ギヨーム殿下（ギヨーム皇太子 ： Guillaume ： His Royal Highness The Hereditary Grand Duke of Luxembourg）が即位しました。
ギヨーム殿下は、ルクセンブルク大公ギヨーム5世殿下（Guillaume V）となります。
また、ギヨーム殿下夫妻の長男シャルル殿下は、18歳になる 2038年 にルクセンブルク大公世子（皇太子）となります。（大公位継承順位はすでに第1位です）
