医学部の教授を務めたことがあるようです。
卒去に伴い、子息の、トーマス・ブレイン閣下（The Honourable Thomas Brain）が第4代男爵となります。
新男爵には今のところ子息はいないようで、ブレイン男爵位には継承者が存在しません。
