2009年より食道癌との闘病が続いていました。
薨去に伴い、ボウモント・セスフォード侯爵を称していた長男のチャールズ・イネス＝カー（Charles Innes-Ker, Marquess of Bowmont and Cessford）が第11代公爵となります。
