　2018年4月27日、ローマ教皇聖座駐箚ドイツ連邦共和国特命全権大使として赴任しているアンネッテ・シャーヴァン閣下（アネッテ・シャバーン元大臣 ： Annette Schavan）が、マルタ騎士団の“フラー”・ジャコモ・ダッラ・トッレ・デル・テンピオ・ディ・サングイネット副長（総長代行 ： The Lieutenant of the Grand Master, Frà Giacomo Dalla Torre del Tempio di Sanguinetto）に信任状を捧呈した模様です。

　ドイツ連邦共和国とマルタ騎士団は、2017年11月に外交関係を樹立しています。

　2018年5月2日、マルタ騎士団は、本部官邸にて総長または代行を選出する評議会をおこない、“フラー”・ジャコモ・ダッラ・トッレ・デル・テンピオ・ディ・サングイネット副長（総長代行 ： The Lieutenant of the Grand Master, Frà Giacomo Dalla Torre del Tempio di Sanguinetto）を第80代マルタ騎士団総長に選出した模様です。
　これまで任期1年の副長として務めてきましたが、終身の総長となります。

　セバスティアン閣下は、ウィーン生まれなのですが、子供がドイツで生まれているのと、両サイトの名前表記から（少なくとも現在は）ドイツ国籍なのではないかと思います。
　また、年長系の系統に子供がいないので、彼自身か子孫が当主の座を継承することになりそうです。

　同大使はオーストリア貴族の家系ではないかと思われます（昔の表記はマウトナー・フォン・マルクホーフ【Mautner von Markhof】）。
